I always feel compelled to explain why a post is a frugal post.  Why?  because I feel the need to justify why I’m posting on this particular topic.  Sound weird?  Being frugal is a mindset for me.  It’s as you already know, my way of life.  Explaining that to someone is sometimes easier when you explain why you do what you do.
So, I say that because February is Black History Month.  What does this have to do with being frugal you say?  Well…everything.  I learned how to skimp on things I needed, bargain shop, be creative or many more of my frugal lifestyle ways from my grandparents.  All of them.  A little bit from one and all together they made me. ….TheDealFanatic.com
Learning about our legacy, our place in history is a preservation of our history.  I thoroughly enjoy the time spent with any of my elders to learn more about me.  My grandmother always says to me, “understand me and you will understand YOU” ~ powerful right!
Taking time together and growing a relationship doesn’t cost you a red cent yet we often times do not do it.  We often assume since we have the title of “family member” we don’t really need to connect.  For me, this is simply not true.  Growing relationships (family relationships) take time.  Time to learn, time listen and time spent together.  Priceless!  And nothing can replace it.
So when our babies can sit and listen to their grandmother read the bible or play in her hair, I relish in it.  Spending time together is an investment in their future.  No amount of money can ever change time.

I’m so happy to collaborate with the team over at Beeverywhre and Macy’s to share with you the Macy’s Black History Month Events that are happening right now!  This year Macy’s has chosen to celebrate the life and works of famed writer/photographer/director, Gordon Parks.  I am a huge fan!!  Because photography is in my blood, seeing his photos in LIFE magazine has always given me inspiration.

Events hosted throughout the month will boast talent, from actress Malinda Williams to director/actor Eriq la Salle to many others who will lend their thoughts & voices to discussions about the late Parks. Select locations will feature art installations showcasing Parks’ works as well as children’s “Design Your Own Book” events and Soul-Jam style dance parties!
This would be an amazing event(s) and so wish there were one happening closer to where I live.  However, if you attend please send me a shout out on instagram or twitter with hashtag #TDFliving so I can feature your image.
