Our dream closet is amazing! Firstly, I want to warn you – this is a LONG post. I even shortened it and still consider it to be quite lengthy. But I know you’ve been waiting since the last post.
The closets are everything and MORE then I thought they would be. After spending months and months in my mind of what I “thought” my dream closet would look like, I have to be honest and tell you this wasn’t it. They are beautiful closets but now knowing what I know…this is the closet for us.
- Great re-sale value on your home – if the new homeowners aren’t happy with your layout or need additional items, they can do it. This system is versatile.
- Perfect for newborns all the way until move out – By picking a color of preference you can keep this system for years and change it around as need be.
I’m so inspired by the result of our closets we’ve decided to go ahead and make the investment to do both the kids closet. This is our forever home and I know it’s an investment that will only appreciate as it get’s older.
So enough talk… you want to see the closets, right? Ok, here we go. I’m so glad my installer was super cool and allowed me to take a ton of photos of the entire process.
Having him bring in one elfa bag after the next into my foyer was surreal. The kids were even excited!
We’re still “moving in” and I’m not sure if we will ever officially be done but the kids think everyday is party because it’s quite festive like the holidays.
In preparation we actually took down the old wire shelfs, filled in the holes and painted this past weekend. Because you know, we have tons of energy and time. But we really didn’t need to because The Container Store will actually take down/out your current closet organization and fill in the holes, then paint it with a flat white. Pretty awesome service that’s included! But I had a particular color I wanted and I needed something that had a bit of a sheen because it’s easier to maintain.
Our closets aren’t big (129″ x 60″) but there are two of them so it makes it feel spacious and I love that.
This first picture below is the most important part of the closet. The top bracket that you see hold it all together.
Once he installed the top bracket, it went fairly quickly. The elfa system was designed for individuals to put together so it comes with easy instructions to follow. I made sure to pay attention because I wanted to know how to do it just in case I wanted to change something.
Beautiful right! I love the “bins”. They fit our lifestyle and I love knowing that it’s just so versatile. I never knew this is what I wanted but I’m so glad we have this system. And isn’t the walnut color beautiful! So gorgeous and rich.
The installer was so efficient, upon completion he did a great job picking up the mess from putting the closets together. Do you think I can teach our kids to do this too?
And here’s what we’ve all been waiting for. It’s taken me a few days to actually get our clothes loaded into the closets. After seeing how nice the closets are, I needed to purge a few non-worthy items and make sure I’m not filling our closets with items we are no longer wearing. And let me tell you, having an organized closet will force you to do that anyway. If there isn’t a section for it, I questioned my need, and it quickly got tossed. Love it!
Here’s the right side of cowboy’s closet. Because those beautiful walnut hangers look so good, he now wants his pants on dress pant hangers. Clearly we will be spending lot’s of time saving money for The Container Store. Here’s the left side:
You can get that same look with this little item called FlipFOLD® Jr. Laundry Folder at The Container Store for $21 and change. I LOVE love love this little piece. And..the kids can do it, so there’s no reason for there closet and drawers to not look the same.
One of cowboy’s favorite spots is this little gem……
The shoe racks are also a big hit for the both of us. Here’s a view from the top of my counter…..
Not sure what the below picture is? Trust me, I had no clue either. I’ve seen the clear window doors that housed sweaters but I had no idea what a sweater box was. Well, I’m the proud owner of 4 and they are marvelous. I love the idea of being able to house them in something so classy but can change as my life changes. It’s perfect!
I’m still working on my closet so that post will be coming up. There’s not enough time in the day. Everytime I walk pass the closets…I giggle. I can’t believe this is ours. The Container Store products are amazing (didn’t I tell you I would use that word allot?) The Container Store staff is awesome! I love their philosophy of how they are with their employees and what their company values are. This whole experience was one that you imagine customer service should be. I’m so glad the Las Vegas store is here. I will be forever a very big fan and a faithful customer. Are you? If so, what are you favorites?
I know I will be heading there soon to grab the purse separator. To view the entire installation you can do so here.
