Menu Plan Monday~DF Style 9/28

‘I’m excited about this week because I want to practice on some recipes for the in-laws when they come to visit.  Shhhh…I think my niece might read this so she’ll get a little preview.  Remember, I’m cooking for a family of 4 and two are 4 yr olds (i.e. picky eaters). While cutting my coupons for All You September 2009, I saw some yummy delicious recipes I want to try so here we go:

Monday: Grilled Chicken with Southwestern Salad (serves 6 – which is good because we’ll have leftovers) – Pg 63 September 2009 issue

Tuesday:

Wednesday: Braised Brisket w/sweet potatoes (pg 102 October 2009 issue) – any suggestions on the veggies?

Thursday: Left over’s ( I don’t like to cook heavy two night in a row)

Friday: Chicken with Herbed Dumplings (serves 4) pg 84 September 2009 Issue. I love this dish because it doesn’t require allot of ingredients.

Saturday: We will be doing our $1 Restaurant.com deal. Last week we did Little Buddha in the Palms. They have a $35 minimum and it was good!

Sunday: Pear & Apple Shortcakes (pg 100 September 2009 Issue) I’m not doing Crock pot Sunday because I want the focus to be on the desert.  We will have a Hearty Salad with meet & fruit to curb  our protein urges.

You’ll find that the dishes I choose to make have a variety of seasonings like herbs and fresh veggies (which I love to buy at Fresh & easy). My family has a history of High Blood Pressure so I want to continue the flavor or all the dishes I love but with less the salt.  I’ve found that by adding the fresh veggies and herbs I can compensate with the salt flavor.  I hope you enjoy any of the recipes I’ve picked out for my family this week.

Also my Menu Plan Monday’s’ will ALL be located towards the bottom all together so you won’t need to do a search.  Check it out..Scroll down after clicking the home button.

So restaurant.com has a minumum? Interesting.
    Everything sounds delicious.
We're so tired of eating chicken so I was looking forward to MPM today. There's lots of inspiration from the participants.
I'm also looking for ways to save since my husband is underemployed and I'm unemployed.
